Honesty

Everyone starts at the bottom

of the mountain of honesty.

The climb is long,

littered with the stones of lives

that became hard and brittle

with what is required in this ascent.

Slowly, and upward, things become sparse,

exposed, elemental.

Slowly come

the brilliant views,

the intense light rising within,

the brutal effort in moving another step.

And then the summit

presents itself:

a mirror of diamond clarity

giving nothing, reflecting everything,

offering you to yourself.

In this moment, you are alone.

In this moment, all that is in you

is all that is needed,

and you must decide if that

is enough.
